Endometriosis & Pelvic pain
Dr Galal has a special interest and long experience in laparoscopic management of various stages of endometriosis by diathermy, excision of endometriotic lesions and dissection of adhesions depending on the type and extent of the disease. He uses surgical and medical approach in treating recurrent symptoms and flare up as appropriate. The treatment is well timed, individualized and depends on patient's condition, needs and circumstances. He has excellent track record, and the outcome of his procedures is among the highest in relieving patients' symptoms, fertility outcomes and improving quality of life.
Laparoscopic (Keyhole) & Gynaecological Surgery
Dr Galal has a wealth of experience in Gynaecological Abdominal, Vaginal & Laparoscopic surgery. He performs a wide range of surgical procedures at Warners Bay Private, Newcastle Privat & Lake Macquarie Private Hospitals. This includes Laparoscopic surgery for complex endometriosis (excision & diathermy), endometrial ablation for heavy menstrual bleeding, laparoscopic, abdominal & vaginal hysterectomies, laparoscopic surgery for ovarian cysts and other benign ovarian lesions, tubal sterilization, prolapse correction surgery for vaginal wall & uterine prolapse, perineal reconstruction surgery, hysteroscopic procedures, and Loop excision for cervical lesions, among other gynaecological procedures.
Early Pregnancy Assessment Services
This is the only private early pregnancy assessment service in Newcastle. The service is to assess the viability and location of pregnancy and it's designed for early detection and urgent treatment of ectopic pregnancy. This service includes early pregnancy scans, measurement of pregnancy hormone blood levels, specialist consultation and specialist nurse support. Since Dr Galal started this service many cases of ectopic pregnancy have been detected and he performed urgent laparoscopic lifesaving surgeries for their treatment with excellent outcomes.

Gynaecological & Obstetric Ultrasound
Dr Galal provides comprehensive ultrasound services in both Gynaecology & Obstetrics at his consulting rooms. He has RCOG/RCR diploma in advanced obstetrics and gynaecological scanning. We are one of very few places in Newcastle which offer procedures such as Hysterosonography as an outpatient procedure, where the uterine cavity is examined for presence of polyps, fibroids and/or presence of congenital abnormalities. Follicular tracking is also performed for fertility cases in our rooms on regular basis. Scan reports are discussed with patients following their scans and a copy of each report is sent to the referring doctor at the same time.

One Stop Bleeding Clinic
Dr Galal runs one stop bleeding clinic for women with heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, breakthrough bleeding, peri & postmenopausal bleeding where consultations, pelvic scans and outpatient endometrial biopsies are performed in one setting. This allows diagnosis to be made and management to be offered in a timely fashion without delay and associated anxiety, which are usually associated in these conditions.
Gynaecological & Obstetric Consultations
Dr Galal offers pre-pregnancy counselling, early pregnancy advice and obstetric consultations during pregnancy whenever the need arises. He offers gynaecological consultation for all gynaecological problems which could affect women's health and physical wellbeing such as heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular & painful periods, abnormal vaginal bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, pain & bleeding associated with intercourse, Abnormal cervical (pap) smears, vulval /vaginal pain & irritation, bleeding after menopause as well as vaginal & uterine prolapse among other gynaecological symptoms.
Fertility & Polycystic ovaries
Fertility services include investigations for diagnosis of ovarian disorders, absence of ovulation, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), tubal blockage, and uterine anomalies.
Pelvic ultrasound and timed hormonal profile are commonly used for diagnosis and for follicle tracking when required.
Induction of ovulation is offered when there is evidence of absence of ovulation & laparoscopic assessment to exclude endometriosis and check tubal patency (opened/unblocked tubes) is undertaken as required.
Semen analysis is always performed at an early stage for the diagnosis of male factor subfertility.
We have a high success rate in the majority of cases who present with difficulty in achieving pregnancy utilizing the above measures, and cases requiring IVF are referred as appropriate.
