Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr Galal is a consultant and a conjoint senior lecturer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who is passionate about providing the highest level of care to his patients.
Dr Galal has vast experience in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology in both Australia and the UK. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in Australia and New Zealand (FRANZCOG) as well as in the UK (FRCOG). He obtained PhD and master’s degree (MSc) in his specialty and the joint RCOG/RCR Diploma in ultrasound from London.
Dr Galal worked as a senior consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at John Hunter Hospital and a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of Newcastle for many years where he had a significant role in teaching of medical students, training of doctors, and regularly participated in GP teaching. He has been an instructor in many courses for management of obstetric emergencies for the advanced life support group for several years.
Dr Galal has several publications in reputable medical books and journals and has been invited as a speaker in several meetings in the UK, USA and Italy. He has been an examiner for medical students in their final exams at many universities in the UK and Australia throughout his career as a consultant.
In his consulting rooms at Darby Street in Cooks Hill, Dr Galal provides obstetric & gynaecological consultations, runs comprehensive ultrasound services and performs a range of outpatient gynaecological procedures such as colposcopy, cervical biopsies and outpatient endometrial biopsies.
Dr Galal performs a wide range of gynaecological surgery including laparoscopic, abdominal and vaginal procedures at several private hospitals in Newcastle. He has privileges to practice at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Warners Bay Private Hospital, and Ramsay Surgical Centre.
